With almost a thousand years of history, almost a thousand years learning to impress its visitors and delight all their senses with unique sensations, Alfabia is not just a visit, it’s a unique experience.
Located at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site, it jealously guards a universe of sensations for its visitors.
Don’t imagine it, experience it!
There are a lot of things to see, but take it easy; we want you to enjoy your stay. Close your eyes and listen to the burbling water all around, flowing and splashing and coming out of its centuries-old fountains, forming all together the famous “jocs d’aigos” (water features).
You will feel like having entered a time warp, especially when you look through the windows of the covered pond with its crystal clear waters and enjoy the spectacular views over the magnificent scenery of the Serra.
Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the gardens, smell the scent of roses, wisterias, winding bougainvilleas that form lianas, orange and lemon trees... Soak up the sun and find some shadow under the trees. And don’t forget to try a freshly squeezed juice!
Sit down and marvel at the wonderful sights of Palma, so close and yet so far, from the distance of many centuries, knowing that you are part of a history that persists. It’s all authentic; antique and alive at the same time. The animals, which will enthuse especially the little ones (peacocks, horses, goats, geese, ducks, swans…), and the fields, where our age-old olive trees still produce a unique olive oil. Experience at first-hand how olive oil is produced in an authentic, restored oil mill; precious olive oil, which had long been the true wealth of the island and of our estate, which once had the largest olive grove on the whole island, according to history books. And also the stables, which create the impression that time has been standing still for years and where it is easy to imagine how the field workers once looked after their ploughing and farm animals. Your visit at Alfabia gives you the chance to discover how life used to be in Majorca before tourism conquered the island – within the walls of this unique estate nothing has changed.
Come inside the house, it is waiting for you. Here you will find over 500 years old furniture and rooms with a history, which once gave shelter to some queen. Also a library with very antique books, some of them written by Majorcan kings, such as the one left here by King James I, the Conqueror, in 1246.
A unique tree, which is protected due to its age and size, dominates the courtyard with its incredible branches. If you cross the patio, which also features a romantic fountain, you will discover the family chapel and a magnificently preserved Mozarabic coffered ceiling from the 13th century – witnesses of the different cultures that lived in Alfabia.
Come to enjoy all this, by car, by public bus with a bus stop right next to the entrance, or by train, with the over one hundred years old “Tren de Sóller” that stops inside the estate of Alfabia.
Come and visit Alfabia, it has been waiting for you for nearly a thousand years!
